To mishap:

[I agree with Miko Bustamante. We help the country better by serving it in the best way we know how, and Cesar has proven time and again that he is in his element in the arena of the arts. His place is not the senate.]

It is not for one or a few people to say whether he should do this or that. We respect your opinion about him running. But respect also the reason on why he ran for senate. He chose to do this because of a cause that he truly and sincerely believes in. And none of us could ever take that away from him.

[If Cesar wins as senator, will he stop making movies or being in TV shows? Or will showbiz still be a part of his life, as we’ve seen in the example of many public officials, even Mayor Vilma Santos has done this, and look at Joey Marquez and countless others. I wonder how they find the time to serve both their constituents and the moviegoers. It’s a waste of taxpayers’ money.]

We cannot answer for those actors/actresses who have already acquired positions in government. They are entitled to their own decisions. But this we would assure you, Cesar Montano will be worth the 35,000 pesos/month that the taxpayer will pay him :) (pun intended).

[Team Montano, with all due respect I don’t believe that we should equate Cesar’s movies with his advocacies.]

I am confused, where in the advocacies, or in the press releases did it indicate that the his movies were equated to his advocacies?

[For many actors and actresses, and I don’t care how anchored they are to their principles, making a movie is simply making a movie. You are given a talent fee to act out a role...]

Strong principles become useless to you just because they get paid on what they do? So if you are an actor, and you get paid for being good at it, despite your good background and solid character, it would still equate to you being a bad senator. Try to look into this a little deeper. Try to see what those actors, actresses, lawyers, doctors, engineers serving in government have in common. Why are they ineffective as lawmakers? Is it because they are just actors? Do you know that Tito Sotto authored more laws than Chiz Escudero (come to think of it, he never did author any). But my question remains, what do these people commonly lack for them to be effective lawmakers? Look deeper and you will find out that having a good solid anchor in principles is what they lack. Not the know-how, not the experience, and definitely not the profession.

I agree with Miko Bustamante. We help the country better by serving it in the best way we know how, and Cesar has proven time and again that he is in his element in the arena of the arts. His place is not the senate.

If Cesar wins as senator, will he stop making movies or being in TV shows? Or will showbiz still be a part of his life, as we've seen in the example of many public officials, even Mayor Vilma Santos has done this, and look at Joey Marquez and countless others. I wonder how they find the time to serve both their constituents and the moviegoers. It's a waste of taxpayers' money.

Team Montano, with all due respect I don't believe that we should equate Cesar's movies with his advocacies. For many actors and actresses, and I don't care how anchored they are to their principles, making a movie is simply making a movie. You are given a talent fee to act out a role. Often, you don't get to act our yourself -- which, in the art of making movies, is the challenge and fulfillment that actors have in honing their craft.

So I don't see why I should believe that in this case, Cesar chose only roles which suited him and his beliefs. I don't see how his movies were "mainly inspired by his passion." Movies are a collaborative product of many behind the scenes people, not to mention the studio itself, and actors and actresses are only a small part of the entire creative and production process (if at all). Cesar may have enjoyed his roles and agreed with them, sure. But I don't see them as a testimony of his advocacy. Movies, lest anyone has forgotten, are fiction. Some may be based on actual events, sure, but they are simply creations. Movies are art, not a platform to run for senate. (And while I'm at it, neither are TV commercials and political ads! Haha!)

In the senate today are a bunch of educated men and women, but look at the Philippines today, we don't look like we are going somewhere better that where we are today. we have the same problems like we used to have. as a young voter, i don't have a choice but to take a chance, to go for a person who, many might say, don't know anything about lawmaking simply because he hasn't been a mayor or konsehal, etc..i will vote for Cesar Montano because i believe in him. instead of giving my vote to people who's got "experience" but has done nothing but cause people pain emotionally and financially, i will take a chance with an actor who clearly states in his craft, his love and concern for his country.it pains me that team unity is using Cesar Montano as a "crowd drawer" but no matter, i am not for Team Unity, i am for CESAR MONTANO. and lastly, i believe that making laws is not just having the proper knowledge, it's about noble intentions, too.

Tony: First and foremost thank you for your compliment on this site. This was made possible by a web administrator who volunteered to help Cesar Montano for his campaign :).

With regards to the investigations, to be honest, we would also want closure to those issues. But we dont think that the senate is the venue for this. The senate has investigated so many cases, and claimed that they are doing so in aid of legislation. But to date, no legislation were ever created due to these investigations. If elected, we would push through the advocacies that we have presented to you. Our focus will be there. Dont get us wrong, we also want these issues to be dealt with, but not by the senate, in the first place they cannot implement laws to apply justice. For us, investigations will be done only if the law needs supplementations. Other than that, we will just be wasting our time, and the taxpayers' money.

Hi Miko, thank you for your post. Just to reply to your comment, first of all you vote will surely not go to waste. It will only go to waste if you will vote those people who do not have the right intention and the right motivation in running for senate (or for any other position in government).
You asked what possessed Cesar to run? It is his passion to help out our country. As you have said, his movies are great. They were mainly inspired by this same passion.
I beg to disagree that the senators job is only to make laws. He will not only make laws if elected. Remember that the senate is also in charge of budget allocation. They themselves also has PDAF (or fondly called as pork barrel) which they can make use of to improve on areas where they think is needed the most.
Please read all the articles here. I assure you that all of these articles are his personal advocacies. Dont look at him as an actor alone, look at him as an individual Filipino citizen with a background of solid character, continuous perseverance and a passion to help our countrymen achieve their full potential. Him being a great actor and director were only the result of the things that I mentioned. Those same traits will surely work for him when he is elected.
